Home – your AI visibility overview
See how your brand performs in AI answers and against competitors. Learn what the numbers on Home mean and where to look next.
Updated
Once Klarvu has collected your first AI answers, your results start appearing on "Home". It's the first page in the menu and gives you an overview of your brand's visibility, what's changed, and where it might be worth looking more closely.
"Home" is different from "Dashboards" under "Monitor". That's where you can build your own dashboards. "Home" is the fixed overview of your brand's performance.
Choose your time period
At the top of the page, you can switch between 7, 14, 30, and 90 days. The default is 7 days.
Whenever you see an arrow or a change next to a metric, Klarvu compares the selected period with the immediately preceding period of the same length.
For example, selecting 7 days compares the latest 7 days with the 7 days before that.
Percentage changes are shown in percentage points. So if your mention rate increases from 20% to 25%, the change is displayed as +5 percentage points, not +25%.
Your four key metrics
At the top of "Home", four cards give you a quick picture of your performance.
| Metric | What it means |
|---|---|
| "Mention rate" | The percentage of AI answers that mention your brand. The "X of Y answers" label shows how many answers are behind the percentage. |
| "Rank vs competitors" | Your position among the tracked brands, based on mention rate. For example, "#2 of 6" means your brand ranks second out of six. |
| "Recommended" | The percentage of answers mentioning your brand that directly recommend it. |
| "Positive sentiment" | The percentage of answers mentioning your brand that describe it positively. |
Under "Rank vs competitors", you'll also see "Named first in N%". This shows how often your brand is the first brand mentioned in an AI answer.
There's an important difference in how these metrics are calculated.
"Mention rate" looks at all analyzed answers to your unbranded prompts. "Recommended" and "Positive sentiment" only consider answers in which your brand actually appears.
Let's say your brand is mentioned in 20 out of 100 answers. Your mention rate is 20%.
If AI directly recommends your company in 12 of those 20 answers, your "Recommended" metric is 60%, not 12%.
Keep that distinction in mind when comparing the numbers.
"What changed" – what's different?
This section highlights up to five developments that may deserve your attention.
Each item is labeled:
- "Up": A positive development.
- "Watch": A change worth keeping an eye on.
- "Note": An observation or insight that may be relevant.
For example, Klarvu may highlight when your mention rate increases or decreases by at least 2 percentage points, or when you move ahead of a competitor in the overall ranking.
It can also show when a competitor overtakes you, either overall or on a specific AI platform. Other highlights include the largest change on an individual platform and insights that are still open.
Think of this section as a quick way to spot what deserves a closer look. A change doesn't necessarily prove that a particular action worked or that something went wrong.
"Mention rate vs top competitors" – follow the trend
The chart shows your mention rate alongside your top competitors, day by day across the selected period.
You can see whether your brand is appearing more or less frequently over time and how that compares with the companies you're tracking.
It's generally more useful to look for patterns over several days than to read too much into a single increase or decrease.
"What to do next" – where should you focus?
Knowing how your brand is performing is useful. Knowing what to investigate next is even better.
That's what the "What to do next" section is for. It can display up to three suggestions:
- "Prompt to win": A question where competitors frequently appear but your brand doesn't. You can open the relevant AI answers and see which competitors are recommended and how they're described.
- "Page to target": A page cited by AI that mentions competitors but not your brand, or a page belonging to a competitor. It gives you a starting point for investigating which sources appear in the answers.
- "Top recommendation": The highest-priority suggestion from "Recommendations", giving you something specific to explore.
Your visibility on each AI platform
Further down, you'll find a card for each AI platform.
Each card shows your mention rate on that platform and how it's changed compared with the previous period.
If your brand has the highest mention rate, you'll see "You lead here". Otherwise, the card shows which competitor is leading and by how much.
This helps you spot differences between platforms. For example, your brand might appear frequently in ChatGPT answers but much less often in Gemini.
During the free trial, you'll only see ChatGPT, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews, since these are the three platforms included in the trial.
"How AI describes you" – what does AI say about your brand?
Being mentioned doesn't necessarily mean being described positively or recommended.
This card helps you understand how AI talks about your company in the answers where it appears.
You'll see the sentiment distribution, showing how often your brand is described positively, neutrally, negatively, with mixed sentiment, or with unclear sentiment.
You'll also see how often your brand is:
- "Recommended": Directly recommended as an option.
- "Discussed": Mentioned or discussed without a direct recommendation.
- "Discouraged": Explicitly advised against.
The card includes selected quotes from AI answers, so you can read what was actually said.
This is especially useful when your mention rate looks healthy but you want to understand whether AI is describing your business in a helpful and accurate way.
"Where AI gets its information" – which sources appear?
This section shows the domains AI cites most frequently in your collected answers.
These might include industry publications, comparison websites, other companies' websites, or your own site.
Your domain is marked with "(yours)", and the card also shows how many citations point to your website.
These sources are worth examining because they show which websites appear in AI-generated answers. But a citation doesn't prove that a particular website caused AI to recommend a company.
Use the information to understand which sources AI references, rather than treating it as a definitive explanation of why a brand was recommended.
If your numbers are empty or changing a lot
When you're just getting started, Klarvu only has a small number of answers to work with. That means percentages can fluctuate quite a bit.
After your first run, there's also no earlier period available for comparison. So you may not see arrows or changes immediately.
If you see "No analysed answers in this period yet", it simply means there are no analyzed answers for the selected period yet.
Where to go next
"Home" is a useful starting point whenever you want to understand your AI visibility.
You can click "View [brand]" at the top of the page to open your brand's own page and explore the results in more detail.
The next pages explain mention rate and position, sentiment, competitors, and sources individually, helping you understand what each metric tells you and how to use it in your work.
