Dashboards
Track your AI visibility with Klarvu's ready-made dashboards, or build your own with the metrics, charts, and filters you need.
Updated
Dashboards bring your AI metrics together in one place. You can follow changes in your brand's visibility, compare platforms, explore sentiment, and see which sources AI cites.
Klarvu automatically creates three dashboards for every brand. You can use them as they are or build your own around the metrics that matter to you.
Find your dashboards
You'll find your dashboards under "Monitor" → "Dashboards" in the menu.
The overview page is called "Explore". It shows a card for each dashboard, including its name, associated brand, and an "Open" button.
This is where all your organization's dashboards live. They're shared, so every member of your organization can view them.
"Dashboards" is different from "Home". While "Home" provides a fixed overview of your brand, "Dashboards" lets you choose and arrange your own metrics.
Your three ready-made dashboards
Every brand automatically gets three dashboards when it's created.
| Dashboard | What it shows |
|---|---|
| "Non-branded" | Your visibility for questions that don't mention your brand by name. |
| "Topics" | How your metrics vary across topics, personas, and buying journey stages. |
| "Citations" | Which sources AI references and how often your own website is cited. |
"Non-branded"
This dashboard is filtered to unbranded prompts – questions that don't already include your brand name.
It includes:
- "Mention Rate" and "Share of Voice".
- Changes in "Mention Rate" over time.
- "Mention Rate" broken down by AI platform and topic.
- "Average Sentiment" by topic.
- "Share of Voice" by topic.
It's a useful starting point for understanding how often AI mentions your business without being asked about it directly.
"Topics"
This dashboard helps you understand which types of customer questions your brand appears in.
It includes:
- "Mention Rate" and "Unique Prompts".
- "Responses With Mentions" by topic.
- "Average Sentiment" by topic.
- "Mention Rate" by persona and "Buyer Journey Stage".
- "Share of Voice" displayed as a pivot table.
For example, you might discover that your brand appears more frequently in questions about one product category than another.
"Citations"
This dashboard focuses on the websites AI uses as sources.
It includes:
- "Total Citations".
- "Own-Site Citation Rate".
- "Cited Page Mention Rate".
- "Unique Cited Domains".
- Citations broken down by domain and country.
- "Citations Share of Voice".
- "Influence Score" by domain.
- Citations broken down by "Cited Site Ownership".
This gives you an overview of which sources appear in AI answers and how often they reference your own content.
For more on the individual metrics, see Mention rate and position, "Sentiment", "Sources", and "Competitors".
Choose a time period and comparison
At the top of a dashboard, you can select the period you want to explore:
- "7 days"
- "30 days"
- "3 months"
The default is 30 days.
You can also choose which earlier period to compare your results against:
| Comparison | What it means |
|---|---|
| "No compare" | Show results without a comparison. |
| "Previous day" | Compare with the previous day. |
| "Previous week" | Compare with the previous week. |
| "Previous month" | Compare with the previous month. |
| "Previous quarter" | Compare with the previous quarter. |
| "Previous period" | Compare with the immediately preceding period of the same length. |
| "Previous year" | Compare with the previous year. |
The dashboard's selected time period and comparison apply to all widgets when you're viewing the dashboard.
This helps you read the charts and metrics within the same time frame.
Create your own dashboard
If you want to bring together a particular set of metrics, perhaps for a monthly marketing review, you can create a custom dashboard.
Click "New dashboard"
Go to "Monitor" → "Dashboards" and click "New dashboard" on the "Explore" page.
Choose a name and brand
Enter a descriptive name in the "Name" field.
Then select "Brand" to choose which company's data the dashboard will use.
Create the dashboard
Click "Create dashboard".
Your new dashboard starts empty, ready for you to add your own metrics.
Add a metric with "Create metric"
Dashboard content is made up of widgets. A widget might display a single number, a line chart, or a table.
You add content through "Create metric".
When you open the builder, you'll see a preview and the settings used to configure your metric.
Choose what you want to measure
Click "Select Metric" and choose the metric you want to track.
Klarvu offers 17 metrics, including "Mention Rate", "Total Responses", "Unique Prompts", "Total Citations", "Average Sentiment", "Share of Voice", and "Influence Score".
You can choose whether the metric applies to "This brand" or one of your tracked competitors.
Choose how to display it
You can select from:
- "Line" and "Stacked line"
- "Column" and "Stacked column"
- "Bar" and "Stacked bar"
- "Pie"
- "Table"
- "Pivot table"
- "Metric" – a single number without a chart.
You can also select "7D", "30D", "3M", or "Custom" with your own start and end dates.
If relevant, choose a time interval using "Day", "Week", "Month", or "Quarter", along with a comparison period.
Add filters
Use "Filter" to decide which data should be included.
For example, you can filter by "Branded Query", "Platform", "Country", "Persona", "Prompt Topic", "Prompt Tag", "Sentiment", "Cited Domain", or "Cited Site Ownership".
You can combine multiple filters to focus on a more specific part of your results.
Choose a "Breakdown"
Use "Breakdown" to split a metric by a particular dimension, such as "Platform", "Prompt Topic", "Competitor", or "Cited Domain".
For example, you can turn an overall mention rate into a chart showing mention rate for each AI platform.
You can't use the same field as both a filter and a breakdown.
Save your widget
When you're happy with the settings, click "Save".
The metric is added to your dashboard as a new widget.
A few rules for visualizations
There are some things worth knowing when building your metrics:
- Charts display one metric at a time.
- "Table" and "Pivot table" can display up to six metrics.
- "Pie" and "Pivot table" require a "Breakdown".
- "Influence Score" requires a "Breakdown" by "Cited Domain" or "Citation URL".
- You can't filter and break down data using exactly the same field.
Tables show the ten largest groups by default. Use "Show all" to see more.
Customize your dashboard layout
Click "Edit dashboard" to change how your widgets are arranged. The button changes to "Done editing" while you're editing.
You can:
- Move widgets: Drag the handle to change their order, including moving them between rows. You can also use your keyboard.
- Resize widgets: Drag the edge of a widget to make it wider or narrower. There are two available widths.
- Add content: Use "Add content" to make room for additional widgets.
- Fill empty spaces: An available space shows "Empty slot" and a "Create metric" button.
- Edit or remove a widget: Open the widget's "⋯" menu and select "Edit" or "Remove".
Each row can contain up to four widgets, and layout changes are saved automatically.
You can also use "Rename" to change the dashboard's name or "Delete" to remove the dashboard.
Understand the numbers
When creating your own metrics, it's worth checking how much data sits behind each result.
Hover over a number to see information such as "Based on N responses". This shows how many answers were used to calculate the metric.
Tables also include an "n" column, showing the number of observations behind a result.
Every widget has an information button explaining what its metric measures.
A high or low value doesn't necessarily tell the whole story. If a metric is based on only a few answers, it may change noticeably the next time Klarvu collects new data.
You can find definitions of individual terms in the "Glossary".
If a widget doesn't show data
An empty widget doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong.
You may encounter the following messages:
| Message | What it means |
|---|---|
| "No observations match these settings for the selected dates." | No answers match the selected period and settings. Try adjusting your filters or time period. |
| "No collection has been recorded for this brand." | No AI-answer collection has been recorded for the brand yet. |
| "This widget could not be calculated." | The widget couldn't be calculated. Try the "Retry" button. |
If a widget is empty, also check whether your combination of filters and breakdowns excludes the data you expected to see.
Frequently asked questions
Can I view multiple brands in one dashboard?
A dashboard is linked to one brand, and that can't be changed after creation.
However, you can choose a tracked competitor as the focus of a metric when building a widget. To create a separate dashboard for another brand, you'll need to create a new one.
Can I display multiple metrics in the same chart?
Charts display one metric at a time. If you want to see several metrics together, use "Table" or "Pivot table", which support up to six.
Why is my widget empty?
Start by checking your time period, filters, and selected breakdown. If no relevant answers have been collected, Klarvu won't have data to display.
Who can create and edit dashboards?
Owners, administrators, and analysts can create, edit, and delete dashboards. All members of the organization can view them.
